How Solela got started

Solela Coffee Company started the way a lot of good ideas do: on a coffee break.

Gabriel Chamata and Julian Hall are organic farmers in southern Ontario, Canada. They spend their days caring for soil, plants, and ecosystems—so when it comes to coffee, they’re just as picky. It has to be naturally grown, fairly traded, and full of character.

Solela Coffee Company was born to bring carefully selected, ethically sourced, and sustainably produced specialty coffees from Africa to coffee lovers in Canada. Behind every bag is a connection: to the farmers who grow the beans, to the landscapes and wildlife they live alongside, and to the community of people who care about what’s in their cup.

This isn’t just about great coffee (though we’re obsessed with that too). It’s about choosing a daily ritual that supports healthier farms, thriving wildlands, and a more conscious way of doing business.
